1. Log in to the SafeLease Tenant Portal
Head over to the SafeLease Tenant Portal at tenant.safelease.com. Look for the option that asks if you already have a private insurance policy covering your stored belongings, this is your ticket to opt out of the facility’s default protection plan tenant.safelease.com.
2. Find the “Add Proof of Insurance” Section
Once you’re in, search for the section labeled something like “Opt Out” or “Add Proof of Coverage.” This is where you submit your own policy details to prove that you’ve got your stuff covered.
3. Submit Your Insurance Documents
Upload the documentation your facility requires; usually your insurance policy declaration page or certificate. Make sure it clearly shows that your policy covers stored items.
4. Keep It Current
After submitting, SafeLease (and your facility) will monitor your policy status. When your coverage expires or you renew, you’ll need to resubmit updated documents to stay opted out. If they don’t see your updated proof in time, you’ll be auto-enrolled in the facility’s protection plan.
5. Confirm You’re Opted Out
After uploading, verify that your account reflects the change. If everything’s processed correctly, your billing should update to reflect that you’re not on the facility’s plan.
6. Knowing What Happens If You Don’t Opt Out
If you don’t submit proof by the due deadline, or fail to update expired documents, you’ll be automatically enrolled in the facility’s basic protection plan and billed accordingly.
