Frequently Asked Questions
All our auctions are held online through StorageTreasures.com. To bid, you must create a free account on their platform, search for the Osprey Storage facility nearest you, and follow their registration steps. We do not hold in-person “live” auctions at our facilities.
For online auctions, we provide several high-quality photos of the unit from the doorway. Due to legal and safety regulations, bidders are not allowed to enter the unit or open boxes before the auction ends.
Once the auction closes, you will receive a confirmation email from StorageTreasures. You must bring that confirmation, a valid photo ID, and payment (usually cash) to the facility manager during office hours. You will then be given a specific timeframe (typically 48–72 hours) to completely clear out the unit.
Yes. Some auctions require a refundable cleaning deposit (often $50–$100) to ensure the unit is left “broom clean.” Additionally, sales tax may apply unless you provide a valid resale certificate.
We ask that you return any personal documents, family photos, or legal records to the facility manager. We attempt to return these items to the previous tenant as a courtesy.
-
Bring Your Own Lock: Once you pay for your winning unit, it becomes your responsibility. Bring a sturdy padlock to secure it until you have finished hauling your items.
-
The “Broom Clean” Rule: To get your cleaning deposit back, the unit must be completely empty. This includes all trash. You cannot use the facility’s dumpsters for auction debris.
-
Check the Location: Ensure you are bidding on a unit you can actually travel to. Most facilities require the unit to be cleared within 48 to 72 hours of the auction’s close.
-
Safety First: We recommend bringing gloves, a flashlight, and a mask. You never know what dust or debris may have settled in a unit that has been closed for a long period.
